To Enroll a Child

At this time, we are no longer accepting new application from Bigs or Littles for our Big Brother/Big Sister/Couples/Buddy Up traditional match program.

Currently our Mentoring Coordinators are at maximum capacity and will not able to take on any new matches for some time. With 180 Little Brothers and Little and over 100 volunteers already in process, we do not want to increase wait time any longer.

To get your child involved in a Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa program, here are the steps you to take.
  1. Parent/legal guardian calls office to speak with Enrollment Coordinator and sets up an Information Session date.
  2. Parent/legal guardian attends the mandatory Information Session and receives an application package. The application packages are only handed out after the parent/guardian has attended an information session.
  3. Parent/legal guardian submits application.
  4. Parent/legal guardian (when required) and child attend the mandatory Child Safety Program.
  5. Parent/legal guardian and participating child are interviewed at home by the Enrollment Coordinator (Please note that this step cannot take place until the Little’s application has been received by the agency).
  6. Little is accepted/not accepted onto the waiting list.

Who is a Big Brother or Big Sister!

They are kind, caring individuals who want to spend time with a boy or girl. They make a minimum commitment of six months to one year depending on the program.
In our traditional match program, the parent/ legal guardian has final approval in the selection of a Big Brother or Big Sister for his/her son/daughter.
