What is Big Career Day?
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa (BBBSO) will be hosting 'Big Career Day' for all grade 10 students enrolled in Civics and Careers classes in both the Public and Catholic School Boards. This event is supported by BBBSO, Kiwanis Ottawa and Community Foundation of Ottawa.
When: October 26th, 2016 (OCDSB) & October 27th, 2016 (OCSB)
Time: Each day has been split into a morning and afternoon session.
Where: Nepean Sportsplex, 1701 Woodroffe Avenue.
Big Career Day will give students, the opportunity to explore career options. Leaders in different fields will be giving speeches, leading workshops and hosting information booths. The students will have the opportunity to listen to a keynote speaker, choose a workshop that interests them and visit many different booths.
Students will receive new insight into different professions and fields in the workplace. They will be given ideas to spark their interests in different post-secondary programs to prepare them for the workforce by illustrating the pathways to follow to achieve their goals. The day will give students the chance to see that high school and post-secondary education can set them up with a bright future. Having the keys to success will provide the community with informed and motivated youth.
Each of the presenters will be focusing on the following four questions of career planning:
1. Who am I?
2. What are my opportunities?
3. Who do I want to become?
4. What is my plan for achieving my goal?
