Michele understands the complexity and depth of need in our community and believes that BBBSO plays a key role in providing supportive and meaningful relationships for young people, which is critical to the development of social and emotional skills. For nearly two decades, Michele served in senior leadership at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, as Executive Officer (Corporate Services) and, in 2023, as interim Director of Education/Secretary to the Board. A strong believer in community, Michele is a former municipal clerk and administrator and worked for both the City of Gloucester and the City of Nepean.
As the Founder of StratMG Solutions, Michele helps public and not-for-profit organizations improve communications, governance, policy, and organizational strategy and alignment. She is known for bringing clarity and compassion to her work and has consistently championed the belief that strong organizations are built on trust, collaboration, and meaningful engagement. She has a strong commitment to human rights and works hard to engage many perspectives to build collaborative solutions.
With extensive experience supporting boards and municipal councils, Michele brings a useful skill set to the BBBSO Board. She has served on several not-for-profit boards, professional associations, school councils, and many community-based organizations, including the United Way Ottawa, Education Foundation of Ottawa, the Ottawa Network for Education, OCENET, and the Ottawa Student Transportation Network. She has also led local, national and international research initiatives focused on student identity, well-being, and social-emotional development.
Outside of work, Michele is a proud mother of two boys, wife, sister, and friend to many. She belongs to a fabulous book club, loves to ride her bike, entertain, spend time at the cottage, and is never afraid to take on a new project!
With a strong commitment to community, a belief in the power of mentorship, and a lifelong dedication to public service, Michele has a strong sense of shared purpose with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa.
