Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa (BBBSO) is committed to the health and safety of its youth, families, volunteers and staff. With the current COVID-19 outbreak and confirmed cases in Ottawa, BBBSO is putting measures in place to ensure we are protecting staff, supporting our families and matches and doing our part to minimize the spread of the virus in the community.

Please note that because the BBBSO offices are located in a school and provincial health officials have made a decision to close all publicly funded Ontario schools, our offices are closed until Sunday, May 1st. Staff members continue to work remotely from their homes.

Staff members are working from home, and are checking in with matches and families to ensure they’re safe and well, and to provide them with any necessary resources.

Community-Based Mentoring programs (MPOWER, Big Brothers/Sisters) continue…matches are connecting via phone calls, video chats and texts and program staff are checking in with families and volunteers by phone.

BBBSO continues to accept and process online volunteer applications. We are continuously looking at ways to adapt to the current situation and are considering online training and virtual interviews.
