OUR 2021 DONATION GOAL
HELP US RAISE 300,000 LBS OF CLOTHING!
Keep Your Clothing Out of Landfills!
In North America alone, over 26 billion pounds of textiles end up in landfills every year. When asked why they don’t donate used goods, 1 in 3 people say they don’t bother because it’s easier to just throw used items away. But what if all that tossed clothing could turn into donations that don’t just protect the environment, but serve the community, too?
Your Used Clothing is Our Hero
Thanks to our community partnerships, each pound of clothing donated to one of our purple bins generates income for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa. Funds raised through our Clothes for Kids’ Sake campaign directly support our programs. That means money for your used clothing generates income for mentoring programs in Ottawa!
Mentoring Makes a Difference
A Social Return on Investment study determined that for every $1 invested in mentoring programs, $23 is returned to society. But the benefits of mentoring go beyond the monetary return—Big Brothers Big Sisters programs also improve the mental health, employment opportunities, and civic engagement of at-risk children over the long term.

MORE WAYS TO HELP
MAKE A DONATION
There are children who are waiting right now to be paired with a mentor. Your gift to BBBSO will match a child on our wait list with a caring mentor.
HOST A BIN
Our outdoor clothing donation bins are approved by the City of Ottawa. We collect the clothing donated to the bin on a regular basis and maintain the bins so they are clean and safe. All proceeds from these clothing donations go directly into programming for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa.
If you would like to place a secure outdoor drop-off bin on your property, please fill out our form. We appreciate your support!
HOST A CLOTHING DRIVE
When you, your school, or organization host a clothing drive, you keep clothes out of landfills while supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa (BBBSO) programs! This is also a great opportunity to teach young people about the benefits of recycling. There are no costs or administration requirements to host a clothing drive for BBBSO, and we work with you to handle the entire fundraising program.
If you are interested in hosting a clothing drive to support our programs, please fill out our inquiry form.
SCHEDULE A FREE PICK UP
Have 10+ large bags of clothing to donate? The BBBSO truck will stop by when it’s convenient for you, free of charge. Simply fill out the form and we will be in touch.
