What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving, occurring on the first Tuesday after the American Thanksgiving each year. It serves as a powerful reminder of the significance of generosity and the impact of our collective efforts to bring about positive change. During this day, individuals, businesses, and communities come together to support nonprofit organizations, charities, and causes close to their hearts.

How will my gift impact Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa?

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa (BBBSO) is the longest-standing Ottawa children’s charity.  Since 1970, BBBSO has made it its mission to ignite the potential of young people by facilitating meaningful mentorship relationships. BBBSO believes that every young person should have the opportunity to reach their full potential and thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.

BBBSO’s mentorship programs are tailored to address the unique needs of each young person. The Mentor – is carefully matched with a Mentee, and they embark on a journey of growth, self-discovery, and friendship. These relationships provide young people with the guidance, encouragement, and support they need to develop into confident, resilient, and successful individuals.

It costs $1,000 per year to support and guide these important relationships.  Your support will help with training, monitoring and guidance to our matches and their families.  Your support will also help us facilitate special events across the city offering Mentor and Mentees a chance to interact with other matches, enjoy an activity or experience.
